lino prints

I create prints through the relief printing technique of linocut. This involves hand-carving designs into a linoleum bloc,  imprinting them by hand using oil-based inks. I am drawn to the organic nature of the process and embrace 'mistakes' as happy incidents, without attempting to change it, incorporating them into the final piece.

Similar to my high-contrast drawings, I am captivated by the graphics of the linocut print, characterised by bold black-and-white contrasts. My objective is to encapsulate the essence of a subject by transforming it into a simplified form. I thoroughly enjoy being able to us subtle lights and markings to create the illusion of complexity within a piece.
