a little bit about me
I am Jade, a passionate traveller and outdoor enthusiast. I have been an artist since I could hold a pencil and my creative goal is to create meaningful art that has a positive impact on people's lives.
I love bringing individuals together through collaborative projects that celebrate diversity and promote unity. From big media projects to personal family portrait commissions - when my work matters to people I feel like I have contributed to making the world a happier place.
expanding my skills
In my early years, I was an avid artist and demonstrated a natural skill for creative subjects, consistently achieving top marks in school and relentlessly drawing at home. It was during this time that I began to dream of pursuing a career in a creative field.
Although excited about all of the creative career paths on offer, I knew my overarching goal was to infuse creativity into the lives of others and celebrate people and places through my work. Mastering the Adobe suite and crafting my designs, creativity became a central theme in my daily pursuits.
As a young person, I had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience at a Graphic Design studio for a week and I instantly recognised my calling as a designer.
degree level
After studying in Norwich and Manchester, I hold a diploma in Graphic Design and an honours degree in illustration.
These experiences deepened my expertise in the complete Adobe suite, with a focus on Illustrator and Photoshop.
These two courses enabled me to amalgamate my drawing abilities, software proficiency, an aptitude for design in diverse projects such as: designing book covers; rebranding initiatives; conveying narratives through a concertina format and creating posters, logos, and packaging designs.
working in the industry
Since graduation, I have been employed as a Graphic Designer for a lively Evangelical church in my hometown.
I work with an experienced and vibrant media team, collectively ensuring that we are providing seamless flow of design across the organisation.
Supporting my team is important to me, I am committed, work well under pressure and meet deadlines - all whilst building a positive work environment and having some creative fun too.
My role in this team is to create an array of products to meet the communication needs of the church. This includes short-term, weekly material and longer term big projects for the religious seasons of big events meetings with the leadership team set out the parameters but I love the freedom to bring my own creative flair to these projects which need to speak to a brand and diverse audience.
The demanding workload and quick turnarounds necessitate a calm, but productive approach and this fast-paced working environment is exciting and fulfilling.
